After two years of successful operation, ILLIES is expanding its services in Vietnam.

Throughout 2017 the Ho Chi Minh City Service Station’s footprint was enlarged and doubled to 600sqm enabling the accommodation of a continuously increasing number of service staff and growing spare parts stock for ILLIES principals KARL MAYER, OERLIKON, ITEMA, TERROT and THIES.

The possibility to offer service interventions and spare parts locally with short response time and in local currency has been receiving great appreciation by Vietnamese and foreign investors from the first day. Today ILLIES is serving customers’ needs with a team of more than 20 specialists. Besides installation of new machines, maintenance and repair works for machines and components, ILLIES has successfully expanded services and entered the consumable business as well.

Sensitive electronic parts are stored in a climate-controlled warehouse inside the Service Station. Further, it is housing also a workshop area equipped with highly sophisticated electronic and mechanical tools and fixings. This comprehensive range of equipment enables the ILLIES engineers to perform regular maintenance and repair jobs on machine parts, which would be otherwise impossible at customer sites.

As of February 2018, ILLIES will start its cooperation with GRAF, a Rieter Components company, providing clothings and combs for short staple spinning machinery. Such diversification allows ILLIES to provide its services starting from spinning process to finishing of textiles.

In November 2017, ILLIES launched the first KARL MAYER workshop Vietnam with an official opening ceremony. ILLIES and the representatives of KARL MAYER, Robert Kuna, Wu Chun Yan and Eddy Ho, welcomed the participants of the workshop as well as valued customers from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City area, who also attended the event.

With increasing sales of warp knitting machines to the Vietnamese market, Senior Vice President and General Director of ILLIES Vietnam, Christoph Peters, stressed the importance of product-related workshops. “This service is especially designed for ILLIES customer’s technical staff, providing information before the machines arrive at the factory and ensuring an trouble free start-up as well as an efficient production period,” he said.   

Rainer Müller, KARL MAYER Sales Director for Asia, confirmed “to support Vietnam’s modernisation and expansion process, not only by supplying high-tech machines, but also by providing the necessary know-how.”

The one-week course, which is offered approximately 10 times per year in English, Vietnamese and Chinese focuses on:  

• introduction of “Stitch formation“ Warp Knitting
• tricot machine structure, technical features
• function and explanation of the knitting element movements and their synchronisation with help of chain links
• explanation of the of the KARL MAYER Command System (KAMCOS) in details and hands on practice of each participant
